Difference between fructose and simple sugar (monosaccharide)
Both fructose and glucose are simple forms of sugar, but that is about the only similarity between the two.
Fructose is up to 2.5 times sweeter than glucose. It inhibits the hormone, leptin, which is also responsible for controlling the feeling of saturation in the body. Another difference is that fructose is metabolised in the liver and may lead to enhanced values of uric acid there, as also to non-alcoholic fatty liver.
